BOTOX® Cosmetic

Dr. Kamran Khoobehi uses BOTOX® Cosmetic to relax the facial muscles and reduce wrinkles.

DR. KHOOBEHI: Botox got approval in 2004 for injecting into the muscles for relaxing them. I've been using Botox even before that one and I use it to inject into areas that they have hyperactivity of the muscle. Typically I do injections for in between the eyebrows, patients have lines, I call it vertical lines, and also in the forehead, and also I combine the injections of Botox in conjunction with the patient's own muscle movement to give more lift. A lot of patients, they're concerned about that when they have a Botox treatment they're going to have a frozen look, but what I do is I leave some of the muscles still working to give the patients a more natural look, but a more lifted, more relaxed look. The result of the Botox can last about three months, it is a very safe medication, and I've been doing it for a long time. I do it myself, I use it on my wife and I feel very comfortable about the safety and also, it is effective.
