DR. KHOOBEHI: Patients that go through liposuction typically are going to wear a special garment for at least four weeks, and the reason for that one is that when you remove that extra fatty tissue, the skin needs to have a time to contract and go back down, and if you don't do that one, it's going to cause sagginess of the tissue. The other thing also I do for patients that do liposuction, I offer them endermologie treatment. That's a massage treatment that patients start doing the week after, and it's really believed that it gives the patient the best possible result, the least amount of dimpling or any kind of track mark or any kind of unevenness of the tissue. Most patients when they do liposuction go back to work about three to five days, depends on what area you do. And some of these liposuction procedures can be done under local anesthesia, or, if the patient has multiple areas that need to be liposuctioned, you can do it under general anesthesia. Typical liposuction areas are abdomen area, waist area, outer thigh, inner thigh, but also I do arms and neck area. And neck liposuction works very well on patients that they are younger, typically 40 years or younger because they have much more elastic. Because if you do it on a patient that is a little bit older, you may get some sagginess of the tissue.
